The first stop of X Games 2013 in Foz do Iguacu, Brazil is finished. After months of preparation and weeks of building, the park and big air courses are ready to be skated by the top professionals from around the world.

Google SketchUp Showcase has posted some of the best SketchUp projects from around the world on their website, and CA Rampworks earned a spot. The showcase displays different projects in different areas of expertise that has utilized Google Sketchup. The projects range from a Floating Sunglass Hut to Bonsai Bench Building. California Rampworks designer, Dug Ketterman, was chosen for the key role that Sketchup played in the design and development of the XGames 17: Street and Park Course. Ketterman used SketchUp for the conceptual design process, structural engineering of the support structure, material estimation, construction documents, branding and the assistance with field measurements and support. Sketching out the flow lines is the way Dug always begin any flow park design. This shows the basic direction the skaters will be traveling within the given build area.
Kids That Rip! Skateboard School in Mesa, AZ, is getting a new street course. California RampWorks began knocking out walls, stripping out old decks, and rebuilding last week. The new street course will be a complete remodel with an extra 3500 sq ft! Here is a 3-D model and fly-through of what the final course design will look like. Apparently, lots of professional skaters are making it their new years resolution to dial new tricks before the big events come around, because California RampWorks has a lot of training facilities to build with deadlines before the Maloof Money Cups, X Games, and Street Leagues of 2011. Without giving the goods away, here’s a look at some skatepark construction in the CRW shop this week.
